The Rebel’s Mythos

The walk back to aliveness.

You adapted to conditions you never chose, and it worked. This is the year you find out what it cost — and how much of yourself is still in there.

If you got here from Reimagining Rebellion

You know what this is. The book is two days in a tavern. The Mythos is a year of it, in your own life.

If you got here another way

You were handed a set of beliefs — about what you owe people, about what makes you worth something, about what you’re allowed to want. You didn’t choose most of them. They arrived early, from people who mostly meant well, and you’ve been running on them since.

This is a walk through taking some of them out and looking at them. You don’t need to have read the book to walk it.

The shape — all of it, up front

Seven stages, walked one at a time. Each stage stands on its own, and the rest between them is built in on purpose.

1 · The Stirring

Something has been asking for your attention. This is where you stop managing it long enough to hear it.

3 waypoints

2 · Reimagining

You were given rules about who to be. They worked. You kept them. Here you take them out one at a time.

6 waypoints

3 · Recognition

Where your own way of operating becomes visible — and where you find out how many people are standing in the same place.

9 waypoints

4 · Soul Recovery

The longest stage, and the one the rest is built around. What was underneath it all, approached at a pace that lets you stay.

16 waypoints

5 · The Plateau

A deliberate stop, and a question that couldn’t be answered before now: what is the story you want to tell?

3 waypoints

6 · The Second Ascent

Everything up to here happened partly to you. This part you choose — when nothing is forcing you to.

10 waypoints

7 · The View

A place to see the whole walk clearly, and decide what you carry back into an ordinary week.

3 waypoints

A waypoint arrives each week. Nothing expires, and there’s no schedule to keep — the pace is there to help you metabolize it, not to move you along.

What a waypoint holds

A reminder — a standing permission, in the same words, at the start of every one.

A song — one track, a different artist each time, felt rather than analyzed. It plays underneath while you read, and comes back at the end with your full attention.

Something to read and be walked through — written in your direction rather than at you. Twenty minutes or so.

A trap — what tends to bend the thinking you just did, and how to spot it this week.

Something to do outside — because you and the creek are the same thing expressing itself twice.

How to be decent to yourself while you carry it — named every single time, specific to what the week is asking of you.

What to walk with — the question the whole waypoint builds toward, and what it looks like on an ordinary Tuesday.

An EchoPlay — the song again, with a companion to read while it runs.

Every waypoint is also recorded, read aloud, if you’d rather listen.

There’s a short introduction that explains what the walk is, what it asks of you, and why it takes a year. It’s a flipbook, so you’ll also see exactly how a waypoint arrives each week.

About fifteen minutes.

Readable on a phone, though it’s a better experience on a tablet or a computer.

How to walk it

The Mythos is part of the Rebel’s Playground subscription. One waypoint a week. It reads in twenty minutes or less and takes rather longer than that to live — which is the point. Nothing expires, and there’s no catching up to do. If a few stack up while life gets loud, they’ll be there when you come back.

The Tavern at the Edge is where we meet. Once a month, live, in small groups, recorded so missing one costs nothing.

The Hearth is the room between — where the conversation keeps going, for whatever came up in the last one or whatever has come up since.

The LibraryBeing Invitational, Rebel Well, and the Soul Recovery podcast.

And Heroic Kids — the same work, one generation earlier. A story for a kid in your life, a guide for you, and the same words for what’s going on. An Adventure arrives each week, alongside your waypoint. See what it actually is →

$29 the first month, $49 after. Cancel any time, and the door stays open.

Come in

Haven’t read it yet?

Reimagining Rebellion is set in a tavern, over two days, in conversation with very good company. Some people want the whole thing at once. Some want it a week at a time.

Either door works, and they lead to the same place.
